Crypto.com Sues Woman After Sending Her $10 Million by Mistake

Wow, lucky. A woman received $10.5 💰 million in an accidental transaction from popular cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com—and then allegedly spent it on a luxury home. Crypto.com mistakenly sent the huge sum when Thevamanogari Manivel asked for a $100 refund back in May 2021, citing court documents.

A Crypto.com employee had mistakenly entered an account number in the payment section and sent the money. But instead of notifying Crypto.com of the mistake, Manivel and her sister Thilagavathy Gangadory allegedly went shopping 🛍 —with Manivel buying a $1.35 million five-bedroom home as a gift. Two sisters in Melbourne are now being chased by the courts after going on a spending spree with the cash.

Founder of Turkish Crypto Exchange Thodex Arrested in Albania

Eternity will be long. The director general of the Thodex exchange 💱 was caught in Albania and plans to return him to his home country Turkey. There, he faces a sentence of 40,564 years. Bitcoin could become a zero-emission network

Eco-activists will be happy. A pro-Bitcoin mining report from self-proclaimed philanthropist Daniel Batten claims that Bitcoin could become a zero-emission 🍀 network. The study uses data from various flare gas BTC miners, including Crusoe Energy in Colorado, Jai Energy in Wyoming, and Arthur Mining in Brazil. It also touches upon miners using waste gases from animal waste — such as those in Slovakia — to illustrate that Bitcoin mining can positively impact the environment 🌍 by preventing the emission of harmful methane gases.

Thai SEC alleges Bitkub CTO committed insider trading

Oops, another one bites the dust. Thai SEC says it had fined Bitkub chief technology officer Samret Wajanasathian 8,530,383 baht — roughly $234,000 💰 — and intends to bar him from being a director or executive officer at any crypto firm for a year.

The financial regulator alleged Wajanasathian purchased roughly $61,000 worth of KUB tokens in advance of an announced 🔈 deal in which Siam Commercial Bank, or SCB, said it would purchase a 51% stake in the crypto exchange. The news drove the price of KUB up by 101%.

Conclusion: Bitcoin will soon become the only major asset that uses proof-of-work mechanism. This certainly puts pressure on their ecosystem and the issue of ecology is now at the forefront for them. New solutions will probably bring new value. In the meantime, the market is waiting for more serious news of new heights.
