Voyager shields Binance.US

Literally, all those who were able to speak out against the acquisition of Voyager by Binance.US did so. We have reported on SEC's view. Our favorites, FTX and Alameda, joined in the hate, as did some US states and federal regulators. Alameda says Binance.US should be out of the picture because there are higher in the hierarchy of creditors that claim the bankrupt company. Voyager can't take it anymore ๐Ÿ˜ก. They say this is hypocrisy and an apparent attack on Binance.US, and in fact, the company has already provided all the necessary evidence of its solvency. The bankrupt firm also adds that FTX's claim was a fraud to hide ๐Ÿ™ˆ its insolvency.

Apple to drop MR headset

Apple plans to unveil its mixed reality headset called Reality Pro this spring ๐Ÿ•น. The price, however, is bitey. It'll cost around $3K, which is twice the price of Meta's Quest Pro at $1.5K. Whether it can be used in the Metaverse is still unclear. Or Apple will build its own metaverse. As a reminder, Apple will soon allow external apps to be uploaded to its devices. So maybe Apple's Web3 precision has changed, and it actually is moving toward the metaverse ๐ŸŒƒ.

Hong Kong in crypto race

It's official. After crypto companies left Hong Kong, the Financial Services Authority revised the decision and is now working to create a legal framework for crypto to re-enter. Most interestingly, Hong Kong is open ๐Ÿ™Œ to the possibility of an exchange-traded crypto futures fund (ETF) and licensing a crypto exchange to serve Hong Kong customers legally. Currently, users rely on unlicensed platforms, but HK wants to change that. And become a crypto hub again ๐Ÿ“ˆ.

DOJ seises Robinhood shares

SBF's idea to play innocent about the Robinhood shares has failed. The court dealing with BlockFi's bankruptcy has seized ๐Ÿ’ฐ the shares pending further investigation. So SBF won't use this to pay for legal advice. This is certainly a win for BlockFi, as they have been advocating for these shares from the beginning. Even if the shares aren't their property, the court at least sees FTX's purchase of Robinhood as questionable ๐Ÿ‘ฟ.

SEC and DOJ investigate DCG

Regulators have been turning a blind eye to Digital Currency Group over its potential fraudulent ๐Ÿง relationships with its subsidiary Genesis, but now they're finally after DCG. Arthur Hayes wrote a nice article about the DCG-Genesis saga so we won't go into further detail. To date, no charges have been filed, and DCG even said they weren't even aware that such an investigation was underway. Meanwhile, authorities told Bloomberg that they requested the documents from both companies and conducted the interviews. As a reminder, Gemini claimed DCG is playing a bad game๐Ÿšจ, and Gemini can't take the Earn product freeze anymore.

Conclusion: The market is neutral today, and the moods, on the contrary, are shaken. As you see, we promised a fiery edition, and we have delivered. It seems that this year's trend of "stop the bullshit" continues. We see it clearly in the situations pertaining to SBF, Voyager and DCG. The question is, how can you still believe these "truths", or are there some players you can really trust?

See you tomorrow, folks! Thanks for being with us.Brought to you by Maksym, Yana, and Aleksandar :)
