Meta is opening a metaverse-inspired brick-and-mortar store

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is opening its first 🛍️real-life store🛍️ to sell VR and AR devices.

The store, which opens on May 9, will be located on Meta Burlingame campus. It’s also where Reality Labs, a division of the company focusing on the metaverse, is located.

Binance launched cryptocurrencies for Ukrainian refugees with payments of 225 BUSD

The Binance exchange🏛️ has launched the Refugee Card, which is designed to help refugees who have left Ukraine for EU countries. You can get both virtual and physical card.

New York State Assembly passes ban on new BTC mines that don't use green power

The New York State Assembly passed a bill late that would place a two-year 🛑ban🛑 on all new proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrency mining facilities in the state that use a carbon based fuel to power their operations.

The bill sponsored by Anna Kelles would not only impose a two-year hold on approval of any new Bitcoin mines, the proposed moratorium would also prevent the renewal of permits issued to existing PoW cryptocurrency miners using carbon sourced energy if they seek to increase the amount of electricity consumed.

Fidelity Pension Plan Will Allow Employees to Invest in Bitcoin

Fidelity Investments, the United States’ biggest provider of 401(k) pension plans, will let participants choose to keep money🤑🤑🤑 in bitcoin (BTC), but only if their employers let them.

401(k) plans are employer-sponsored defined-contribution pension accounts, and Fidelity, per 2020 figures compiled by the researcher Cerulli Associates, has USD 2.4 trillion locked into 401(k) accounts. That figure, the New York Times pointed out, represents over a third of the domestic market.

Bitcoin is struggling in El Salvador, the first country to make the asset legal tender, according to a ​new report. A survey conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research concludes that, despite El Salvador's Bitcoin Law, not many people🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ in the country are using the cryptocurrency.
