Monero community reaches consensus for July hard fork

July 16, the Monero network passed a community consensus to initiate a mainnet 🍴 hard fork at a block height of 2,668,888.

The popular privacy coin's hard fork will include increasing the chain's ring size from 11 to 16, adding view tags to outputs to reduce the wallet scanning time, introducing bulletproofs and implementing fee changes.

Donations made to political parties using cryptocurrencies will be banned in 🍀Ireland under new political integrity laws drafted due to concerns around foreign interference in politics.

Amendments proposed by Minister Darragh O’Brien also cover rules around foreign donations, misinformation, and other transparency requirements for political parties, citing fears of Russian interference in 🍀Ireland’s elections.

Ethereum Foundation treasury expands non-crypto assets to 19%

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has released a report detailing how its $1.6 billion 🏛️treasury consists mostly of Ether (ETH), but with a surprising 18.8% in non-crypto assets.

In total, the EF non-profit organization which manages the funds for Ethereum developments holds about 0.3% of the current total ETH supply, amounting to roughly $1.3 billion💰 which is verifiable on Etherscan. However, its non-crypto holdings account for a sizable $302 million share.

MetaMask Warns Users of New Apple iCloud Phishing Scam

MetaMask, the popular Ethereum non-custodial wallet, has warned Apple users to beware of possible iCloud phishing attacks👽👽👽.

In a recent tweet, the company said that the encrypted passwords for users’ crypto accounts, called MetaMask vaults, would be automatically uploaded to Apple’s cloud service if the iCloud backup option is enabled on the app.
