CEO of Bankrupt Crypto Lender Celsius Alex Mashinsky Resigns

Oh, wow. Alex Mashinsky—CEO of the bankrupt crypto lender Celsius Network—has submitted a letter 📩 of resignation to the company’s Board of Directors, according to a press release from a New York law firm.

“I elected to resign my post as CEO of Celsius Network today,” 💬 said Mashinky in a statement. “Nevertheless, I will continue to maintain my focus on working to help the community unite behind a plan that will provide the best outcome for all creditors – which is what I have been doing since the Company filed for bankruptcy.”

SEC Fines Tether’s Former Auditor $1.5M for ‘Improper Professional Conduct’

The U.S. Securities and Exchange 💱 Commission has fined Tether’s former auditing firm, Friedman LLP, to the tune of $1.5 million. The regulator found the accounting firm engaged in several instances of “improper professional conduct” in its audits of two companies from 2017 to 2020. While the order doesn’t mention Tether outright, the stablecoin 👛 issuer retained Friedman LLP as auditor from May 2017 to January 2018 before ending the relationship. Big price to pay for a mistake.

Robinhood Web3 wallet enters beta, taps Polygon as first blockchain

Crypto and stock trading platform Robinhood announced 📢 the launch of Robinhood Wallet, a self-custody, Web3 wallet, with Polygon (MATIC) as its first supported blockchain. As a blockchain network of choice, Polygon offers scalability, speed, low network fees and a robust developer ecosystem, according to Robinhood.

Robinhood launched the beta version of its Web3 wallet on iOS. It is being made available to the first 10,000 users who joined the waitlist in May 2022. Korean authorities orders freeze of $67M of Bitcoin tied to Do Kwon

South Korean authorities have requested crypto exchange OKX and Kucoin to freeze 3,313 Bitcoin (BTC) reportedly tied to Do Kwon, the co-founder of Terra blockchain developer Terraform Labs. Kwon, reportedly created a new wallet 💰 on Sept. 15, just a day after a Korean court issued an arrest warrant against the fugitive crypto founder. According to the crypto analytic group Cryptoquant, a new BTC wallet was created under the name of Luna Foundation Guard (LFG), and a total of 3,313 BTC was then transferred to the KuCoin and OKX 💱 exchange. A limited range of NFT collections will be supported including CryptoPunk, Moonbirds, goblintown, Bored Ape and Azuki, owners of these NFTs will have to become Gold 🥇 members with hi and verify their NFT ownership with the platform to receive their custom cards. Gold membership with the platform is obtained by staking a minimum of 100,000 hi Dollar’s (HI), the platform’s native token, a sum worth around $4,600.
